Stichting ALS Nederland

Stichting ALS Nederland is in Nederland de belangrijkste financier van wetenschappelijk onderzoek naar ALS. ALS is een dodelijke zenuw- spierziekte. Nederland telt c.a. 1.500 patiënten. Jaarlijks overlijden er 500 mensen aan de gevolgen van de ziekte, maar er komen ook 500 nieuwe diagnoses bij. De gemiddelde levensverwachting is 3 tot 5 jaar na de eerste verschijnselen. Hoop op een toekomst is niet, want er is nog geen effectieve behandeling gevonden.
